Soups and Sandwiches

So, this weeks lab was soups and sandwiches. We made 2 hot sandwiches that were fun and unique. We made 2 soups, Broccoli Cheddar and Homemade Chicken Noodle! They were great and the students enjoyed them too. I am a big soup fan! I especially love going to soup, sandwich, and salad type eateries. As it is called here, St. Louis Bread Co., (Panera), is one of my favorites. I like paninis and soups like baked potato, new england clam chowder, etc. What are your favorites?

  1. My favorite is a hearty chicken chowder called Down Home Chicken Chowder. I make it early in the day in a 'slow cooker' until dinner time. I serve it with corn muffins. Here's a version of the recipe, but I substitute fresh vegetables & chicken broth rather than a can of vegetable soup.

  2. Oh, to be a student in your class! Those are two of my fav soups ever, especially the HOMEADE chicken noodle soup!!
Because I am a terrible cook (I'm serious!) I would have to say tomatoe soup is the best I could offer to fix at my house. However, I add a grilled cheese sandwich with it and that's plenty for me to eat at dinner.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family!! amy :)

  3. Your blog reminds me of a cooking class I took in high school. There was nothing like eating hot dinner meals at 8:30 in the morning. Growing up, my family and I would go to my grandmother's house every Sunday for soup. The tradition carries on with my mother, but the soup is not always on Sundays. My favorite soup is, chicken corn chowder. We have a local restaurant who makes a great one!

  4. Ahhh, soups! Great to begin any meal. My favorites would be broccoli cheddar. Best one served at Panera especially in a bread bowl. Another one would be corn chowder. As long as it is hearty with bacon and potatoes, I love it!

@Amy, I also love tomato soup and grill cheese. We had this a lot growing up and still love it today. Quick and easy meal, especially for my culinary skills or lack thereof.

  5. I NEED to be a student in your class. I love hearty chicken noodle soup. Although I like to think of myself as a competent cook, I wouldn't even know where to begin.

  6. Leah,
My husband and I just had a great French Onion Soup this weekend that was terrific and one of my favorites. Although, a great New England lobster bisque (sp?) is also to die for!!
